Doctor Vladimir Poznyak, from the World Health Organization's Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, said that psychologists are against the inclusion of gaming addiction in mental illness, but that societies should be very careful about it.

There are 3 symptoms of gaming addiction

Stating that there is a serious difference between playing games and being addicted to games, Dr. Poznyak explained 3 features of this difference as follows:

“The first sign of gaming addiction is that gaming behavior takes precedence over other social activities. The second is the inability to control the desire to play. Even if negative situations arise, the person cannot stop himself from the game. The third feature is that the person is stressed in a certain way and cannot spare time for personal, social and educational areas. The result is insomnia, feeding problems, and physical ailments. For this behavior to be considered an addiction, it must last for at least 12 months.”

Vladimir Poznyak stated that gaming addiction has common features with gambling and substance addiction in general.
