Turkish Red Crescent Blood Center lost its reputation with tent sales after the earthquake disaster and is currently having difficulty finding donor blood.
A Turkish Red Crescent Blood Center official, without wanting to give his name, made a statement to the Science and Health News Agency (BSHA) about the increasing blood crisis after the earthquake. The official stated that there is a serious stock shortage in all blood groups in the Red Crescent's inventory and that it is having difficulty meeting the demands of state and university hospitals. At the same time, “I regret to say that the Red Crescent could not prevent the decrease in blood stocks after the loss of reputation. "Unfortunately, public and university hospitals do not have enough blood stock for emergency patients and surgery needs," he said.
Stating that patients' relatives go to Red Crescent Blood Centers and donate blood in order to have their surgeries performed, the official said, “Turkey's agenda is changing very quickly. Our people need to donate blood. "This is an issue that requires an urgent Action Plan to be implemented," he said. (BSHA – Science and Health News Agency)
