Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Republic with a comprehensive and unique exhibition. Focusing on the years 1922 - 1942 and reflecting the Early Republican Period's perspective on cultural disciplines and social life such as literature, plastic arts, music, graphic and architectural design, performing arts, museology, and archaeology. Face of the Republic The exhibition meets art lovers at Galataport O2 Block on November 1.

Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation's project focuses on the projections of multi-dimensional social transformation in the Early Republican Period on culture, art and social life. Face of the Republic The exhibition brings the period's view of cultural disciplines such as plastic arts, music, literature, graphic and architectural design, performing arts, museology, archeology and cinema to the present day with a comprehensive content. A special emphasis is placed on the themes of "establishment and salvation", which have been the inspiration for artistic creation since the War of Independence, within the scope of the exhibition. 

The exhibition, which was realized with the contributions of Borusan Contemporary, deals with the multi-dimensional social transformation in the quarter-century period covering the national struggle and its aftermath, within the scope of the academic art history discipline as well as art products; It conveys the aesthetic understanding of the period with its traces in social life.

İzzeddin Çalışlar was the curator of the exhibition, which allows people to explore the periodic equivalents of cultural codes in daily life with a rich content and experience. Prof. Dr. Haluk Oral served as project consultant. Face of the Republic'The exhibition design of the exhibition was carried out by PATTU. Additionally, within the scope of the exhibition, a documentary film directed by Selçuk Metin will also be presented to the audience.

The exhibition includes more than 500 original works, documents and ephemera.

Face of the Republic The exhibition aims to reveal the diversity and change in aesthetic understanding with the original selection it presents. In the exhibition, cultural and artistic institutions, including Salt, Istanbul Research Institute, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Ministry of Culture Film Archive, Yapı Kredi Historical Archive, Semiha Berksoy Opera Foundation and İnönü Foundation, as well as galleries, personal archives, foundations, research centers, official archives and universities. There are more than 500 original and digital works, documents and ephemera from their collections.

Face of the Republic Expressing her opinions about the exhibition, Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation Chairman Zeynep Hamedi said, “The exhibition, 'I owe a debt of gratitude to this country, I have worked all my life to repay it' We created it in a way that reflects the trust of my father, our Founding and Honorary President, the late Asım Kocabıyık, who adopted the concept, our corporate values and the social contribution areas of the Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation. "I would like to thank our supporters, business partners and all business units of our Foundation who contributed to the realization of this valuable project, which we hope will inspire new generations."

Canan Ercan Çelik, Secretary General of Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation, said, "After the War of Independence and the declaration of the Republic, this exhibition, in which we will reveal the story of modernization and multidimensional social transformation of our country from perspectives such as social life, equality, culture and art, will serve to understand Atatürk and the essence of the Republic revolutions." We believe. "With the exhibition design and the use of advanced technologies, we hope that our visitors of all ages will take the 100-year-old legacy even further in the future by creating a ground where they can feel, SEE, LISTEN and FEEL the Republic from different perspectives," he said.   

By designing original works, documents and ephemera together with digital experiences, it presents the audience with content that covers the spirit of the period in its entirety. Face of the Republic The exhibition can be visited free of charge between 1 November 2023 and 3 March 2024 at Galataport Istanbul O2 Blok, between 11.00-20.00 on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
